Set in the heart of the dramatic Peak District National Park, Smithy Cottage is a deceptively spacious 18 century cottage is comfortable enough for families or up to 6 adults but still cozy enough for couples.

don't take our word for it...   here's what our guests say about Smithy Cottage...

an absolute gem of a place, very cosy and quite central to the most famous sites of the area. Immaculately clean and a very well kitted out kitchen. I would highly recommend it!!! [Marta]

Nice kitchen well equipped. Five gentlemen who like walking absolutely ideal. Very comfortable. [Tim]

Would definitely recommend this cottage. David and Carol are superb hosts. The cottage is beautifully furnished, cosy and welcoming and the location is perfect for exploring the stunning Peak District countryside. A definite "must visit". [Charlotte]

Lovely place perfect with little kids we had a great time! [Jenny]

This is a beautiful, tardis like and well equipped cottage. The hosts are very responsive to questions. The pub up the road has some interesting opening hours but the food is good and the staff friendly. You will have to drive for provisions although the pub do sell eggs. We highly recommend. [Terrie]

We loved it. A beautiful cottage with a stunning view from the seats on the landing. Very well equipped kitchen for anyone wanting to cook or bake (including both balance and electronic scales). Very quiet overnight and warm and comfortable. Great DVD collection and selection of games for when the weather goes all British. [Tim]

This is a beautiful cottage in a lovely rural village, perfect for our needs and we would definitely go back. [Richard]

This was a great find. Quite a large space with three comfortable bedrooms and a good sized kitchen and dining room. We loved watching the lambs just outside. Our favourite day was walking around Chinley Churn then going to Millies tearooms in Hayfield afterwards. Also explored Buxton and watched the sunset up MamTor. Hope to come back! [Christa]

Cosy yet spacious cottage with all the amenities you could wish for. Really communicative and helpful hosts. [Jess]

We have just got back from a wonderful stay at Smithy Cottage, it’s in a perfect location, served well by rail and road and has a lovely little pub on the doorstep - perfect for refreshments after a day out walking. The cottage itself is very charming, we were a party of four adults and a baby and there was plenty of space for us all - David and Carol even bought a travel cot to make things easier for our stay which was really helpful as our friends were travelling from Australia. The kitchen is well equipped with lovely views of the countryside, the lounge is cosy with a wood burning stove - perfect for cosying up after a day out walking. We visited the nearby charming little town of Bakewell and did a few walks nearby, would thoroughly recommend. [Melanie]

Smithy Cottage in Sparrowpit, Derbyshire is a delightful accommodation. It is spacious and clean and is cosier in life than it appears in the pictures. David and Carol answered emails quickly and had given good instructions for arriving, gaining entrance to the cottage and clear local information. Everything worked well and we would highly recommend it for a family of 6. [Clare]

Great place to explore the Peaks. A perfect base for our climbing and walking trip, perfect to come back to after a long day in the hills. [Harry] This cottage was absolutely beautiful - well laid-out, tastefully decorated and spotlessly clean (which is hard work in a building of that age). The location is also great for exploring the Peak District and we found the maps and walking ideas provided extremely helpful. [Emma]

The cottage is lovely, quirky and cosy, great for exploring the Peak District. David and Carol are great hosts, responding immediately to any query with thoughtful suggestions. [Jean]

We had a great time in the Peak District. The house is very spacious and comfortable and wonderful for a good time away. Kitchen is very well equipped and unlike many other places has sufficiently big pots. The beds are of good quality and ensure you get well rested. [Dingeman]

Very pretty, well equipped large cottage with a beautiful garden looking over the sheep and ducks. Extremely easy check in and check out process and very good communication. The cottage is spacious and comfortable and is surrounded by stunning countryside. Close to some popular climbing spots which we appreciated. Highly recommend a stay! [Laura]

This is a delightful cottage in a really charming part of the world. (I suppose it helped that we have fantastic weather.) It's one of the loveliest Airbnb's I've had the pleasure to stay in, and I've seen a lot. [Ralph]

Lovely cottage, great views over the dales and hills of the peaks. Bigger space than it looks in the pictures and David is a great host, very helpful and responsive. Only negative was the local pub only opens occasionally now in the evenings, lots more choices 5 mins drive away though. [Paul]

Smithy Cottage is a dream. The house is beautiful, clean and convenient. The view from the kitchen is so sweet - we never stopped talking to every sheep that stopped in front of the window one its way to the water trough. The little walled garden was even closer to them, plus it had lovely flowers. The beds were comfortable. Everything was perfect! [Karen]

David and Carol have a simply marvelous house out in the countryside, deep in the beauty of the Peak District. We really enjoyed exploring the area from this stylish and well appointed cottage, all the extra touches were there that made the house really special and welcoming to us as a family. Many thanks for sharing your house - first rate!! [Steve]
